It’s amazing how you can pass a building a million times without really seeing it. Writing this chapter opened my eyes to the dozens of beautiful buildings lining the Promenade des Anglais. Not to mention the interiors. I had attended jazz evenings on the terrace of the Westminster Hotel (item number 13 in the Promenade des Anglais walk) many times but never knew that the interior contained this:
Of course I had noticed this striking lady (item number 19) but never knew who sculpted it:
And who knew this building (item number 17) is considered a landmark of Art Deco architecture?
I sure would like to get a closer look at this villa (item number 20), the oldest on the Prom, but as I’m not a member of the French Army, I’ll have to wait for a special invite. Anyone?
